A Brazilian ride-hail driver has been hailed a hero after he pulled off an Oscar-worthy performance in the front seat of his own cab, convulsing, gasping and rolling his eyes until two would-be thieves bolted empty-handed.
Dashcam footage, which first exploded online in August 2025 and has surged again this week, shows the two men climbing into the back of the car before one of them delivers the classic line: “It’s a robbery. You understand? I don’t want to hurt you.”What happened next left the pair utterly lost.
Instead of handing over his cash or his car, the driver launched into a wild, shuddering display. His body jerked, his head lolled, his eyes rolled back and he began making distressed noises as if in the grip of a heart attack or epileptic fit. One of the men can be heard shouting in panic: “What was that, loco? Damn it! Put your hand on his tongue, Caio!”
The other robber, equally baffled, asks whether the driver has gone mad. Within seconds, both men scramble out of the vehicle and run.
Once they are gone, the driver drops the act, starts the engine and remarks to his own camera: they thought he was having an epileptic attack.
The driver’s identity has not been widely published. Police were reported to have reviewed the footage in an effort to identify the pair, though no arrests were immediately confirmed at the time the video first circulated.
Experts have long warned that faking a medical emergency is a high-risk gamble. In this case, the gamble paid off. The thieves left with nothing but confusion, and the driver kept both his money and his car.
Give that man the gold statuette. He earned it the hard way.
