An insurance adjuster sent to inspect a roof leak in Gilbert, South Carolina, delivered the most hands-on customer service imaginable: he fell through the attic floor and landed in the kitchen.
Homeowner Joel Merritt says the adjuster went into the attic to check a leak, then stepped where he shouldn’t have. The ceiling gave way. Drywall, insulation, and one very surprised claims man came crashing down onto the kitchen floor while Merritt’s wife stood a few feet away. Surveillance cameras caught the whole thing.
She looks stunned. Fair. One second you’re at the counter. The next, a man in a hat is making a new skylight over the fridge.
The adjuster pops up, dusts himself off, and treats it like another Tuesday on the job. No serious injuries reported. Just a kitchen that suddenly needed more than a leak inspection.
Merritt recently reshared the three-year-old clip. He says it still gets the family laughing. Three years later and the video still slaps harder than most insurance explanations.
The irony writes itself. Guy shows up to look at water damage. Creates a man-sized hole instead. If the original leak was small, it isn’t anymore. Call it an aggressive site visit.
