THIS is the moment a furious young woman sprinted out of her house in nothing but a bath towel and sent a car thief packing with a metal baseball bat.

Brave Nicki Vine, 21, had just finished a soak when her security camera pinged with movement outside the family home in Broadstone, Poole, Dorset.

What she saw made her blood boil. A helmeted yob was trying the door of her dad Darren’s work van — the family’s livelihood as plasterers.

She didn’t hesitate.

Grabbing the baseball bat kept by the front door, clutching her towel with one hand and her vape in the other, she burst outside and charged.CCTV captured the wild scene as Nicki tore down the street in her robe. The suspected thief took one look and scarpered. His mate on a waiting motorbike revved up to collect him.

Nicki wasn’t done. She stepped into the road, shouted “come on then” and took a swing at the fleeing bike as it roared past. She is certain she connected.

“I got a little bit angry, that’s our livelihood,” she said. “I ran outside with the bat in just my towel. The guy saw me and ran away. I threw the bat at him but it missed.“Then I heard the motorbike start up and stepped into the road to play chicken with it. He drove towards me and I had to step out of the way. I took a swing at him and I am pretty sure I hit the bike.“When I got back in the house I realised I was physically shaking.”

The family had been targeted by thieves before. Nicki had had enough.“We have been the victims of thieves before and when I saw it was going to happen again, I just thought I’m not going to let it happen,” she said. “I didn’t really care about what would happen, you have just got to stand up for yourself.”She filed an online police report the same night and handed over the footage. So far, she says, nothing has happened.

Neighbors have rallied round the young tradeswoman who decided a towel and a bat were enough to protect what was theirs.
