Retired UFC star Dustin Poirier didn’t just get tossed off a plane, he tried to turn the Atlanta airport into his personal octagon.
Newly released bodycam footage from his June 21 public drunkenness arrest shows “The Diamond” raging at officers after they cuffed him, dropping slurs, telling them to “f–k the fans” and repeatedly demanding they uncuff him so he could throw down one-on-one.
“Y’all free me and we go 1-on-1. Let’s go 1-on-1. Me and you. Let’s go. Let’s see what happens,” Poirier slurs in the extended 28-minute video that surfaced Friday.
The 37-year-old former interim lightweight champion had already been yanked off a Delta flight to Fort Lauderdale after airline staff said he was too intoxicated to board. When cops showed up at Gate D36, he immediately got in their faces, calling them “hoes” and offering to fight.
The new footage picks up after he was already in handcuffs.
As officers walked him through the airport, one cop warned that the video would eventually go public. Poirier didn’t care.“F–k the fans! F–k you guys!” he fired back when another officer reminded him that paying customers would see the tape.
He kept going.
“Unlock this s–t so I can f–k y’all up,” Poirier barked. “Y’all being a bunch of f–king hoes! Unlock me, dog, and let’s go! I’m tired of this s–t! I’ve had enough!”At one point during the search, the Louisiana native sarcastically told an officer to “check my d–k, too.”
Poirier also bragged about his past time behind bars, claiming he’d already done “penitentiary time” for second-degree assault that was later reduced. “This s–t ain’t nothing to me, dog,” he said. “I don’t give a f–k about this.”Despite the threats, officers stayed professional. They never used the Taser they had drawn earlier at the gate, and Poirier was booked into Clayton County Jail without a physical fight. He even fist-bumped one cop on the way out, telling him, “You did a great job.”
Poirier later admitted the incident was a low point. After retiring following a loss to Max Holloway last year, he said walking away from fighting “hasn’t been easy” and that alcohol “isn’t the answer.”
“I’m at the point where I need some help,” he posted. “It has ruined my father’s life, and I will not allow it to ruin mine.”The public drunkenness charge is a misdemeanor. Poirier was released the same night. The new video is just the latest reminder that life after the octagon hasn’t been a walkover.
