A rogue flyer has been terrorizing a taxpayer-funded asylum hotel in England’s Midlands, sending a drone buzzing overhead to drop eggs and stink bombs on people standing outside.
The footage, first posted to TikTok in April 2025 and now ripping across X again, shows a drone hovering over the Holiday Inn Express in Tamworth, Staffordshire. In one clip set to Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” an object lands near a man by the front door. Another video tracks three men through the parking lot before an egg smashes into the pavement a few feet away. Captions on the original posts called it “stink bomb drone drops on asylum seekers.”
Staffordshire Police opened an investigation at the time, saying they were looking into possible breaches of the Air Navigation Order 2016 after the videos appeared online. The account posting the bird’s-eye clips quickly picked up thousands of followers. Cops have not publicly identified the operator.
The same Tamworth hotel has been a flashpoint for years. The Home Office turned it into contingency housing for asylum seekers amid the small-boat crossings in the English Channel. In August 2024, it was attacked during nationwide unrest, with rioters throwing missiles and starting fires. Some locals have long complained about the site; asylum seekers housed there have reported verbal abuse and being turned away from nearby shops.
The latest round of shares on X has framed the drone operator as a kind of folk hero taking matters into his own hands. Police, meanwhile, treat flying a drone over people and dropping objects as a potential aviation and public-order issue, not a joke.
Whether the flyer is still at it in 2026 is unclear. What is clear is that the videos keep finding new audiences every time Britain’s migrant-hotel rows flare up again.
