A woman in what looks like a Southeast Asian courtyard just lived through every snake nightmare imaginable — and the security camera caught every second of it.
The clip, circulating Monday on X, shows the unidentified woman spotting a massive dark king cobra slithering across the tiled patio right outside her home. She doesn’t run. She grabs whatever she can find and goes to war.
Wearing a helmet, face mask, long sleeves and pants, she charges the snake with a long pole, possibly a broom handle or tool, and starts swinging. She misses. She swings again. Misses. A third time. Still nothing but air.
The cobra, described in the original post as “dev” (giant), stays coiled near a pair of discarded slippers. It raises its body, shifts, and waits. Then, after the woman fails to land a single blow, the snake takes its one shot.
It strikes.
The footage is only 22 seconds long, but it’s packed with dread. A yellow marble pillar frames the scene. A motorcycle sits parked in the background. Green tropical vegetation surrounds the paved courtyard. The whole setup screams residential Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, or a similar country where king cobras still roam near homes.
King cobras are the world’s longest venomous snakes. Adults regularly stretch 10 to 13 feet; the biggest recorded hit nearly 19 feet. Their neurotoxic venom can drop an elephant. In a human, it attacks the nervous system, causing paralysis, drooping eyelids, difficulty breathing, and eventual respiratory failure.
Without antivenom, a bite like this is a death sentence. The clock starts ticking the moment those fangs sink in. Hospitals in cobra country keep the specific antivenom on hand for exactly this reason. If the woman in the video was bitten, she needed that treatment immediately, or she would not survive.
The snake doesn’t hang around after the strike. It uncoils and tears across the tiles with shocking speed, disappearing toward the edge of the property. One moment it’s there. The next it’s gone.
