A routine physical at a Suwanee, Georgia, family practice turned into a three-minute hallway showdown after a patient overheard the doctor and a nurse allegedly laughing about her inability to produce a urine sample, then hit record.

The viral TikTok and X footage, which has racked up hundreds of thousands of views, shows patient Lia (@lia.living) confronting Dr. John Y. Shih, DO, at Suwanee Family Physicians on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Shih, a longtime family medicine physician and FAA aviation medical examiner with over 35 years of experience, stands in the hallway in a black quarter-zip with a stethoscope around his neck while Lia films him.Doctor.

“Are you talking about me?” she asks as she approaches the reception area. Shih immediately denies it: “No, no, no, no, no.” She fires back, “It’s funny because I can’t give you seven drops of urine?”

According to Lia, she had already drunk a full bottle of water, was dehydrated, and was on her menstrual cycle, factors she says made producing a sample difficult. She later told TikTok she overheard the doctor telling the nurse something to the effect of “I’ve never heard of that. I’ve never heard of anyone not being able to give seven drops of urine.”

In the clip, she accuses him of being dismissive during the appointment itself. failing to introduce himself, questioning whether she knew her own diagnosis, and treating her opinions with a shrug. “It gives very racist and very discriminatory,” she says. “So do not run up on me. Do not touch me. I will not be back at this office. I was made very uncomfortable.”

Shih offers a brief “I’m sorry” and claims he was “just talking to her” (the nurse). Lia, who says she is also a doctor and is “surrounded by medical professionals,” isn’t having the generic apology. She demands he specifically own the comments about his patients and later pans the camera toward the nurse, calling the whole interaction “very unprofessional” and the office “very disorganized.”

The video ends with her repeating that she won’t return and criticizing Shih’s knowledge of IV infusions and medical terminology, noting he’s a DO, not an MD.

The clinic, which markets “compassionate, relationship-based healthcare,” has not publicly responded. Online reaction has been mixed: some viewers praise Lia for standing up for herself and highlight past patient reviews calling Shih dismissive or rude (especially toward women), while others argue she escalated a minor clinical comment into a racism allegation and note that doctors talk about cases with staff constantly.

Shih’s WebMD and Healthgrades profiles already show a wave of new reviews referencing the clip. Whether the footage tanks his practice or simply becomes another “doctor bad” TikTok remains to be seen, but the hallway confrontation is already living rent-free in thousands of timelines.
