Look, most viral videos are either some influencer doing a stupid dance or a guy getting body-slammed for no reason. This one hit different. A Red Baron stocker in Michigan, known online as Walt Z—was just trying to get through his shift stocking frozen pizzas when some streamer decided to film a “prank” on him. The kid asks for the time, holds his phone out, plays the Apple Pay sound, and claims he just stole money off the guy’s account. Classic low-effort content move.

Walt, who was already having a rough one (mortgage, four kids at home, up at 5 a.m. hitting multiple stores), did not find it funny. He basically told the streamer he was making money off other people’s misery while he couldn’t even pay his bills, and that he had a family waiting on him. The whole thing was raw, unscripted, and way more real than the average TikTok bit. The clip blew up after places like RT and then a bunch of accounts picked it up. VidMax featured it, the comments went nuclear, and suddenly people who usually just scroll past this stuff were pissed on Walt’s behalf.

Enter Luke Oakenshield, a random guy who didn’t even know Walt. He starts a GoFundMe called “Support a Harassed Red Baron Worker” basically saying this dude was just trying to do his job and shouldn’t have to worry about getting fired or losing stability because someone wanted views. The page took off. Early numbers were in the tens of thousands. Then it kept climbing as more people saw the video and the story.

As of the latest update on the fundraiser itself, it’s sitting at roughly $132,471 raised toward a $220,000 goal, with around 4,000 donations. Some reports from earlier in the day had it even higher (north of $137k in one write-up), and it’s still moving. Walt has been located in Michigan, the organizer says he’s “blown away” and overwhelmed by the support, and he’s asked for privacy while GoFundMe handles transferring the money directly to him. No one is trying to turn this into a media circus for the guy.

The whole situation is pretty straightforward. A working dad got filmed against his will while he was stressed out about real-life stuff, he pushed back, and a bunch of strangers decided the prankster shouldn’t be the only one who comes out ahead. Whether the streamer faces any real consequences is still an open question, but for now the internet did the one thing it occasionally does well: it showed up for the regular guy instead of the one chasing clips.

Walt’s got the money coming, the family still has him, and hopefully he can take a little of the pressure off. That’s the update.
