SUGAR LAND, Texas – What began as a routine evening of 12-year-old girls’ select softball at Imperial Park exploded into a brutal, all-out brawl Saturday night after an argument over cheering, according to police and court records. Video obtained by KRIV and widely circulated shows parents in pink shirts charging into the fray, with one father swinging a metal water bottle that police say knocked another man unconscious.
The chaos unfolded around 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 24 during a game between Illusions Gold 2033 and Timbergrove Thunder. Kiarious Marshun Hall, 36, and his wife, Jazmine Hall, 36, were there supporting their daughter. According to charging documents, a man from the opposing side confronted Kiarious about cheering before pitches. Hall told officers he continued anyway. A second man joined, and the verbal dispute turned physical.
Witness video reviewed by investigators captures the moment Kiarious Hall, wearing a bright pink shirt and shorts, allegedly swung the metal water bottle and struck a father in the face. The victim collapsed, hitting his head on the ground and losing consciousness. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where his attorney said he suffered a fractured skull, broken jaw and three brain bleeds. He remains hospitalized.
Grandfather Gary Greaser, there to watch his granddaughter play for Timbergrove Thunder, jumped in to break it up. In the footage, the pink-shirted man is seen continuing the assault as Greaser and others intervene. Greaser told local media he was hit and ended up with seven stitches on his chin, extensive scrapes and a broken hip after being pushed or tackled into bushes. “It’s medieval times like we’re going to smash each other in the head with something,” Greaser said in disbelief.
Jazmine Hall, also in pink, is seen in the video joining the melee, throwing punches or pushing Greaser. Court records state both Halls were arrested by Sugar Land police and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on charges of assault causing bodily injury, Kiarious facing two counts. Bonds were set at $11,000 for him and $3,000 for her. Kiarious claimed self-defense, saying he had been elbowed and poked in the chest, but police noted video showed he threw the first significant blow.
Jazmine Hall, an assistant principal at Lamar Junior High School in the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, resigned her position days later. The district confirmed the resignation and stated the incident was not school-sponsored. Illusions Gold Fastpitch later permanently dismissed the individuals involved and severed ties with the team, saying it does not condone such behavior.
The graphic video, showing bodies on the ground, wild swings, children nearby and bystanders scrambling, has drawn widespread outrage over parental conduct at youth sports. Sugar Land police continue investigating as the injured father recovers from life-altering head trauma. Neither the Halls nor the victims have been fully identified in all reports beyond the details above; the case remains pending in Fort Bend County court.
