A University of Georgia fan got busted by a sheriff’s deputy who jumped the median to pull him over on the way to a big game in Athens, only to flash proof from his own Cadillac that his cruise control was locked at a legal 70 miles per hour.

Chris Dixon says he was cruising with a convoy of fellow fans, music blasting, when the cop crossed the center strip and hit the lights. The ticket claimed 77 mph. Dixon immediately pointed to the in-car display and offered up a full recording from the vehicle’s built-in system that he says never budged above 70.

In footage shared online, Dixon tells the officer, “Sir, I got a recording of this car. It is, it’s on seventy. You can watch it.” He gestures at the screen showing the steady 70 reading and notes the group of cars around him were just “cruising” to the game. The deputy brushes it off on the spot, declaring the car’s system “is not a state-registered device” and telling Dixon he can fight the ticket in court.

The video, complete with on-screen captions calling out “Liar Liar Pants on Fire,” has racked up massive views and shares as viewers side with the driver. One commenter ripped the stop itself: “Bro drove over the median to pull someone over for going the speed limit. Embarrassing.”

Dixon’s Cadillac screen repeatedly displays the 70 mph mark along with date stamps from the drive, while the officer sticks to whatever radar reading triggered the chase across the median. The case now heads to court, where the car’s own data could become the key exhibit against the ticket.
