Police in Sussex, UK have released footage showing a horrible motorcycle accident. The crash occurred last May and police are using the video to stress the importance of reporting dangerous driving. The rider of the motorcycle, Lee Oliver, had been trying to do a wheelie while traveling at a speed of about 70 miles per hour. He lost control of the bike and struck the pavement, rolling into the lane of an oncoming van. His motorcycle skidded across the road into a nearby grassy area. The driver of the vehicle slammed on the brakes but wasn't able to stop quickly enough. He was hit by the van and his body continued sliding down the street. Oliver and another motorcyclist, Lee Cunningham had cameras on their bikes, which recorded not only the accident, but also what happened in the moments leading up to the wreck. When police examined those devices, they learned the pair had been traveling at speeds ranging from 90 to over 130 miles per hour in the area. Thanks to a dash mounted camera in the van, police were able to watch footage from both perspectives. Oliver somehow walked away from the accident with only minor injuries. A police spokesperson remarked, "If he had come off his bike just seconds later he could have gone under the wheels of the van and been seriously injured or even killed." The duo appeared in court last week, where they were ordered to keep off the roads for four years. They were also given an 18-month suspended prison sentence and have to complete 200 hours of community service.
