Shocking footage of the moment a gunman shot his victim in the leg at point blank range has emerged.
The shooting took place in Far Rockaway, Queens, at 9.30pm on Saturday night near Beach 25 Street subway station.
It was captured by surveillance footage which police shared on Monday.
It showed the as yet unnamed man approaching his 50-year-old victim with a gun in one hand and push him in the chest before taking aim at his left leg.
Callously, he fired one shot at point blank range before walking backwards on to the sidewalk and fleeing.
The victim, who has not been named either, was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
NYPD detectives shared the footage on Monday morning to help lead them to the suspect. They described the suspect as a black male between the age of 20 and 30 who weighs around 180lbs.
It is not clear whether the pair knew each other or what prompted the shooting.
The gunman was wearing a sports jersey with the number 12 on the back in white lettering.
He was also wearing a dark knitted beanie hat, a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue parka with dark pants and dark shoes.
He was seen moments earlier inside a convenience store on the street.
