Masked bandits have robbed a Melbourne jewellery store marking the second smash-and-grab raid in the city in just 24 hours.
The robbery took place just after 3pm on Saturday at the Collections Fine Jewellery store in South Yarra.
The offenders made off with a 'number of items' after smashing the store's cabinets with weapons and fleeing in a stolen vehicle, police said.
'We believe there's possibly baseball bats involved,' Detective Sergeant David Barry told Nine News.'(There is a) suggestion of other weapons. We are working with witnesses to find out exactly what the offenders had.'
A witness told The Age she heard smashing glass and a group of men run to a getaway car.A staff member was treated for a cut to his hand, and the thieves remain at large.
The incident comes just 24 hours after machete and hammer wielding bandits robbed another of the city's jewellery stores.
Three men targeted Holloway Diamonds in Canterbury in the city's east on Friday and smashed cabinets before making off with an unknown quantity of jewellery.
Video obtained by Nine News shows the offenders running towards a car as they make their getaway.A number of staff were inside the store but there were no reported injuries.
The same shop was previously targeted in January when three men armed with an axe and a hammer stormed in and stole a 'significant amount of jewellery'.
Two teenagers have been charged over the January robbery but police are yet to catch anyone for the latest smash-and-grab.
