A drink driver goes to extraordinary lengths to avoid a routine police roadblock - mounting the pavement and smashing into three vehicles before being ordered out of her car at gunpoint.
Frightened onlookers ran for cover as the 32-year-old drove along the kerb the wrong way up a one-way street, crashed into a car and a van and forced a path between the two minus most of her bumper.
The woman driver, named locally as Carolina Nataly Santander Ramirez, failed a roadside breath test.
Police chief Rodrigo Mariangel said: 'The woman mounted the pavement and when she saw she was surrounded, she smashed into parked vehicles.
'Traffic police surrounded her but in a dangerous manoeuvre she drove up onto the pavement again before her attempts to get away ended with a collision with another car.'
He added: 'Once the vehicle had been stopped, the person inside was removed and when officers detected a strong smell of alcohol, she was breath-tested and found to be over the drink-drive limit.'
She was due to appear in court today.
