Tucker Carlson debated Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) over remarks Hillary Clinton made in the wake of the Las Vegas music festival massacre.
"The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots. Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get," Clinton wrote on Twitter.
Swalwell first thanked first responders for their heroic actions, but said he understood Clinton's point.
Carlson said Clinton's criticism of silencers was misguided, as no silencer or suppressor could truly silence a high caliber automatic rifle.
"Do you think she thinks a silencer would make a rifle silent? If she thinks that, maybe she shouldn't be weighing in on it," Carlson said
Carlson said he was familiar with similar types of weapons saying that even with a suppressor on the end, a .223 shooter would need earplugs because the gunfire would be so loud.
Swalwell said that Congress must work to make sure that the "weapons of war" can only be put in the "hands of the warrior."
Carlson dismissed the notion, calling all politicization of the tragedy as a "soliloquy designed to make the rest of us angry and fearful."
