A Tesco Extra store has been evacuated after a man claiming to be an ex-security guard climbed into the ceiling rafters in a protest.
Mum Amie Walker told The Mirror she was shopping with her family at about 6pm tonight at the Reading West store when she saw the man up in the roof.
She said the man, who can be seen sitting on ceiling girders above checkouts in the Portman Road outlet, had threatened to jump.
"He said he was fired from Tesco for being black," she said.
"He is actually saying he is going to jump."
Police and emergency services rushed to the scene as customers watched from outside.
