A Blind Date contestant has been jailed for a year for a vicious attack on a defenceless dog walker.
Dave Mulligan, 34, battered a man in his late 50s in a daylight attack as onlookers watched in horror.
The fitness fanatic portrayed himself as a happy-go-lucky charmer when he appeared on the TV3 show.
Even though the Mulligan, from Dublin, was obliged to reveal any convictions, Stellify Media, which makes Blind Date, was unaware of his violent past.
A spokesman for Irish channel TV3 said the broadcaster was “shocked” to learn Mulligan served time for the horrific unprovoked attack which left an elderly man seriously injured in Australia in 2014.
