A pilot and weapons officer have died after a US fighter jet plunged into the sea near Florida.
The F/A-18F Super Hornet crashed during a training exercise off the coast near Key West on Wednesday.
The US Navy said in a statement the two aviators were recovered from the water and declared dead.
The two-seater jet crashed on its final approach to Naval Air Station Key West.
The cause of the crash is currently unclear and investigation has been launched.
"It was going in to land, and all of a sudden, the whole thing flipped sideways and I saw a fireball," witness Barbie Wilson told CBS News.
