A Syrian fighter plane was shot down by Israel after the aircraft "entered the country's airspace", according to the IDF.
Two Patriot missiles were reportedly fired at the plane - which was bombing ISIS targets - after rocket sirens went off in northern Israel.
The IDF said the aircraft was monitored as it approached the border with the pilot thought to have fallen in an ISIS-held area.
It is thought the pilot mistakenly crossed over the border after bombing ISIS in the northwestern corridor of the Yarmouk Basin, near Golan Heights.
It is the first time since 2014 that Israel has downed a Syrian jet.
