A man who fell 80ft into a deep pit said he is "lucky to be alive" after being pulled to safety.
The pedestrian, known only as Mr Altaf, was pulled out covered in mud, thanks to passersby who threw a rope down and managed to drag him back up.
The 40-year-old man was emotional as he reached the top and was seen kissing the feet of the people who rescued him as a sign of his gratitude.
Mr Altaf had been walking on a dimly lit street in Hubli, Karnataka, India, on September 26 when he fell into the pit.
