An 'intimidating' vegan activist is standing trial today accused of smearing fake in front of diners at a McDonald's.
Dylan Roffey, 24, is one of around 20 activists who stormed the fast food chain in Brighton on May 17 wearing pig and chicken masks, Brighton Magistrates' Court heard.
The protesters 'overwhelmed' security and waves signs and chanted through a megaphone.
Roffey is accused of causing criminal damage for throwing fake blood in the restaurant to highlight the chain's supposed cruelty to animals.
She is also charged with obstructing a police officer by refusing to leave but denies committing both offences.
The activist sat firmly on the floor with her fist clenched like 'Superman', according to PC Willis.
More activists gathered outside court today in support of Roffey.
McDonald's assistant manager Robert Frost, who was in charge of the restaurant on the evening the incident occurred, told the court that between 10 and 20 protesters had arrived at about 7.30pm.
'They overwhelmed security,' he said.
