Pilot error caused fatal Sukhoi Superjet 100 crash at a Moscow airport last May, Russia’s Investigative Committee said on Wednesday as it published new footage of the tragedy.
The committee said in a statement that the investigation into the crash established that the pilot’s “actions to control the aircraft, committed in violation of the established rules, resulted in the destruction and fire of the aircraft.” The statement added that the case has been sent to Russia’s Prosecutor General.
On May 5, 2019 flight SU1492 from Moscow to Murmansk caught fire while landing at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, killing 41 out of 78 people on board.
