Two boys, aged just 12 and 13, have been charged as adults following a horrifying attack on a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly dragged into a garden and brutally assaulted in Miami, court records reveal.
The suspects, identified as Nelson Nunez, 13, and Josiah Jones, 12, are accused of approaching the girl before forcefully pulling her away from public view and pinning her to the ground.
According to police documents, the child was held down and assaulted for approximately 30 minutes as she cried out in pain and repeatedly begged for the attack to stop.
Investigators allege that as the girl screamed “No, no, stop, stop, it hurts,” one of the boys attempted to silence her by stuffing rocks into her mouth to prevent her from calling for help.
The ordeal reportedly came to an abrupt end only when the girl’s father began calling her name from nearby.
Police say the suspects immediately fled the scene, running in the opposite direction of the sound of the father’s voice.
Both boys were arrested and formally charged on Friday, with prosecutors making the rare and controversial decision to pursue the case in adult court due to the extreme nature of the allegations.
Authorities have not released further details about the victim’s medical condition but confirmed she survived the attack.
The case has stunned the local community and reignited debate over violent crime involving minors and the circumstances under which children can be tried as adults.
