A viral Instagram post has left social media users stunned, after makeup artist Alexis Stone claimed he impersonated Hollywood star Jim Carrey at the 51st César Awards in Paris.
Stone, known for his celebrity transformations, posted a series of close-up photos comparing Carrey at the ceremony on February 26 with images of a hyper-realistic prosthetic mask, dark wig, and false teeth. The makeup artist captioned one set of snaps: “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris,” alongside pictures of a Paris hotel room overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
The post quickly went viral, sparking heated debate among his 1 million followers and celebrities alike. Actress Megan Fox weighed in, commenting: “I can’t handle any more stress right now I need to know if this is real.”
Stone also shared Instagram stories featuring high-definition digital scans of Carrey’s face, used as a reference model for his prosthetic creation. Combined with the mask evidence, the content ignited a social media storm, with fans scrutinising every detail of the actor’s appearance at the Paris awards.
Conspiracy theories about Carrey’s appearance had already begun circulating days before Stone’s revelation. Observant viewers noted that his features at the ceremony seemed noticeably different from previous public appearances, particularly his eyes, facial structure, and unusually straight black hairstyle. Some even spotted what appeared to be a piece of tape near his ear, which theorists suggested could indicate a latex mask seam.
Stone’s content included four distinct sets of proof: high-quality close-ups of Carrey at the ceremony, detailed images of the prosthetic mask laid out in what looked like a hotel suite, digital face casts, and behind-the-scenes shots of his Paris preparations. Each piece further fueled speculation over whether the 64-year-old actor himself attended the ceremony, or if a professional lookalike delivered the iconic acceptance speech.
Fans around the world have since been obsessively comparing side-by-side images of Carrey from 2025 with those from the César Awards, deepening the debate about the authenticity of the appearance and cementing Stone’s post as one of the most talked-about celebrity controversies of the year.
