Dramatic video has captured the moment a group of bystanders rushed to lift a car off two pedestrians who were pinned beneath it following a crash on the famous Las Vegas Strip.
The shocking incident unfolded on Las Vegas Boulevard when a Toyota Camry became involved in a collision with another vehicle, according to police.
Moments after the crash, authorities say the Camry’s driver attempted to reverse the vehicle in an effort to “clear congestion on a sidewalk” as crowds gathered near the busy tourist hotspot.
But tragedy struck when two pedestrians attempting to cross the area were struck by the reversing car and pinned beneath it.
Dramatic footage circulating online shows a group of men rushing toward the vehicle before banding together to physically lift the front of the Camry, allowing the trapped pedestrians to be pulled to safety from underneath.
Witnesses can be heard shouting as the crowd struggles to raise the car high enough for rescuers to drag the victims free.
Police later confirmed the pedestrians, a 32-year-old and a 49-year-old, both from Mexico, were seriously injured in the ordeal and rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
According to Fox 5 Las Vegas, the 49-year-old victim remains in critical condition following the frightening incident.
The Las Vegas Strip, one of the busiest tourist areas in the United States, regularly sees huge crowds of visitors walking along its sidewalks and crossings, particularly at night.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and the driver’s actions before the pedestrians were struck.
Meanwhile, the viral footage has drawn widespread attention online, with many praising the quick-thinking bystanders whose efforts may have helped save the victims’ lives in the chaotic moments after the crash.
