There are awkward family dinners… and then there’s whatever just happened to Aishah Sofey.
A three-minute video making the rounds online shows the 23 year old French Canadian influencer in the middle of what looks like a full blown family confrontation after her brother decides to pull up some of her social media content and show it to their mom.
And when I say “pull up her content,” I mean he literally starts showing their mother the explicit photos she posts online.
For context, Sofey is a fitness influencer with roughly 3 million followers on Instagram, and a lot of her content leans heavily into the typical influencer formula, gym shots, revealing outfits, and the kind of posts that rack up likes but would probably give your parents a mild heart attack if they ever saw them.
Well, that exact nightmare scenario basically plays out in real time in this video.
Her brother starts scrolling through the images and showing them to their mother, who is wearing a hijab and clearly comes from a more traditional background. The reaction is immediate. You can see the realization hit as she looks at the photos, and it quickly turns emotional.
At one point, the mother becomes visibly upset and starts crying while questioning what this means for her daughter’s reputation and future, including concerns about how it could affect her chances of marriage.
Which is about as brutal a “your mom found your Instagram” moment as you can possibly imagine.
Meanwhile, Sofey appears frustrated and defensive during the confrontation, pushing back as the situation spirals into one of those family arguments that probably should never be happening with a camera rolling.
