From $167M Jackpot to Jail Cell: Kentucky Powerball Winner Arrested Again After Alleged Break-In and $12K Theft

A Kentucky man who once celebrated a life-changing lottery win is back in handcuffs after a shocking series of events that has left many asking how it all went so wrong.
James Farthing, 51, who previously won a staggering $167 million jackpot, has now been arrested on burglary and drug charges following an alleged break-in that saw thousands of dollars stolen from a private home.
Police say the incident unfolded on Saturday evening, when security footage captured Farthing entering a residence at around 7 p.m. Authorities allege he forced his way inside before making off with approximately $12,000 in cash.
The homeowner later reported hearing a door being forced open, only to discover the money missing after the suspect had already fled the scene.
Officers launched a search and eventually located Farthing at Red Mile Gaming, where he was taken into custody without incident.
During the arrest, police say they discovered marijuana inside his vehicle, leading to an additional possession charge.
Farthing now faces charges of second-degree burglary and possession of marijuana.
The arrest marks yet another troubling chapter for the lottery winner, who made headlines less than a year ago following a dramatic encounter with law enforcement in Florida that reportedly ended with him being tased and tackled after kicking a deputy.
What began as a rags-to-riches story has since spiraled into a series of legal troubles, raising questions about how a multimillion-dollar windfall could be followed by such a rapid downfall.
