Darathorn Yoothong, better known as “Dada,” didn’t walk away with the crown, but she absolutely walked away with the internet. Her swimsuit stage moment has gone viral worldwide after she ditched the traditional pageant script and delivered something way more chaotic and attention-grabbing.
Instead of the usual polished, controlled runway walk, Dada came out with a full-on performance. We’re talking dancing, sharp choreography, exaggerated movements, and the kind of energy that felt closer to a music video than a beauty pageant. It wasn’t subtle, and it definitely wasn’t within the typical “rules” of how these segments usually go.
That’s exactly why it worked.
Clips of her routine spread fast, turning into memes and sparking recreations across social media, not just in Thailand but internationally. Whether people loved it or thought it crossed the line, everyone had an opinion, which is basically the goal in moments like this.
What’s interesting is this didn’t come out of nowhere. Dada has a dance background and regularly posts choreography online, so this wasn’t some random spur-of-the-moment decision. It felt calculated, like she knew the risk, knew it might cost her points, and went for it anyway.
And yeah, she didn’t win. In a traditional judging sense, that’s not surprising. Pageants usually reward control, elegance, and staying within a certain lane. Dada swerved out of that lane completely.
There’s a bigger shift happening here too. Pageants are still rooted in old-school expectations, but contestants are starting to realize that going viral can matter more than playing it safe. Dada basically turned a losing result into a breakout moment, and now she’s one of the most talked-about names from the entire competition.
