A disgruntled warehouse worker has been arrested after allegedly setting fire to a massive distribution center in a shocking act of revenge, filming the blaze as it began to engulf stacks of goods.
Chamel Abdulkarim, 29, is accused of deliberately igniting a massive fire inside a Kimberly-Clark warehouse in Ontario, California, a sprawling facility said to cover a staggering 1.2 million square feet, roughly the size of 11 city blocks.
Authorities say Abdulkarim used toilet paper packages as kindling, setting them alight inside the warehouse before the flames rapidly spread through the enormous building.
In a brazen twist, he allegedly recorded himself during the act and posted the footage to Instagram, delivering an angry rant about wages as the fire took hold.
“You may not pay us enough to fcking live, but these btches dirt cheap... There goes your inventory,” he is heard saying.
He continued, “All you had to do was pay us enough to live. All you had to do was pay us enough to f*cking live.”
The fire quickly escalated into a full scale emergency, with thick smoke billowing into the sky as crews rushed to the scene.
A total of 175 firefighters and 20 fire engines battled the inferno, working tirelessly to bring the massive blaze under control inside the cavernous facility.
Despite the scale of the destruction, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.
The incident has sparked intense debate online, with some condemning the alleged actions as reckless and dangerous, while others pointed to the worker’s furious comments about pay as a reflection of broader frustrations over wages and working conditions.
Abdulkarim has since been taken into custody and faces arson charges as investigators continue to assess the full extent of the damage caused by the fire.
