A cheeky spider monkey turned a luxury hotel into his personal breakfast buffet this week, helping himself to pastries while staff looked on as if it were completely normal.
The daring Geoffroy’s spider monkey swung past a waterfall and elegant lounge chairs before hopping onto the reception counter, snatching breakfast in a grab-and-go style that had tourists roaring with laughter.
Outside, a second monkey waited, almost like a getaway driver in this jungle heist, adding an extra layer of mischief to the audacious raid.
“Better manners than some tourists!” joked one social media user, while others called the primate the best part of their holiday.
But experts warn the furry thief’s boldness isn’t just cute. Feeding monkeys can make them dangerously accustomed to humans, leading to aggressive behaviour and health risks for both animals and guests.
Geoffroy’s spider monkeys, native to southern Mexico and Central America, are famed for their incredible agility and prehensile tails, perfect for swinging through the jungle… and apparently, helping themselves to hotel breakfasts!
Visitors are being urged not to feed wildlife, but it seems some of these clever bandits already know exactly where the pastries are served, and they won’t hesitate to grab a quick snack.
