Shocking Moment Two Men Randomly Attack 77-Year-Old Pedestrian in Downtown Seattle as Bystanders Walk Past Without Helping
36 days ago
THIS is the horrifying moment a 77-year-old man was allegedly attacked without warning while walking alone through downtown Seattle, before being left crumpled on the sidewalk as passersby ignored his cries for help.
Disturbing surveillance footage released by authorities shows the elderly victim slowly walking southbound along Third Avenue near Pike Street last month, moments before the violent assault unfolded.
The attack was captured by Seattle’s Real Time Crime Center cameras, which monitor areas identified by the city as crime hot spots.
In the chilling video, the elderly man can be seen approaching a pharmacy on the corner when two men suddenly rush toward him.
Without any apparent interaction or provocation, the suspects shove the 77-year-old violently to the ground before punching him as he lies defenseless on the pavement.
The attackers are then seen casually walking away from the scene while the victim remains hunched over on the sidewalk in visible pain.
Equally disturbing, several bystanders appear to walk past the injured man without stopping to assist him.
None of the witnesses seen in the footage approached the victim or attempted to help him as he struggled on the ground following the assault.
Authorities have not publicly identified the suspects shown in the video.
Police released the footage in hopes the public may help identify the men involved in the apparently random attack.
The condition of the 77-year-old victim has not been publicly disclosed.
The disturbing incident has reignited concerns over public safety in downtown Seattle, particularly along Third Avenue, which has long been plagued by crime, assaults and drug-related activity.
Social media users reacted with outrage not only at the brutality of the attack itself, but also at the apparent indifference of people who walked by without intervening.
One viewer described the footage as “heartbreaking,” while another wrote that the lack of assistance for the elderly victim was “just as disturbing as the assault.”
Seattle Police Real Time Crime Center footage of Ahmed Abdullahi Osman, 29, randomly assaulting a 77-year-old man near 3rd Avenue and Pike Street in downtown Seattle, resulting in the victim's hospitalization with broken bones and facial injuries.
