A 75-year-old Indiana grandmother with a heart condition has died after a furious confrontation at a Tim Hortons drive-thru escalated into a physical brawl with police bodycam and surveillance footage appearing to show her as the aggressor.

Anita Ann Grayson entered the Fort Wayne restaurant on May 13, 2026, furious about a mistake with her order, and was caught on camera berating a terrified 17-year-old female employee behind the counter.

When the 20-year-old shift leader stepped in to protect her young colleague and repeatedly asked Grayson to leave, the situation escalated into violence.

According to Fort Wayne Police Department investigators, Grayson shoved the younger woman backward, then punched her hard on the left side of the face, knocking off her glasses and leaving scratches.

In the dramatic surveillance video released by police, Grayson is seen grabbing the shift leader by the hair, pulling her to the ground and rolling on top of her as the terrified employee swats at her arms. Two other employees rushed in to separate the pair, but struggled as Grayson reportedly yanked out a chunk of the young woman's hair, leaving a raw patch on her scalp.

The horrifying footage, which police say counters misleading clips circulating online, shows the chaotic struggle unfolding in seconds before both women are separated.

Grayson then sat down at a table, made a phone call, and about 10 minutes later collapsed onto the floor. Employees checked on her and brought water, but she became unresponsive. Paramedics rushed to the scene, performed life-saving measures, and transported her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Preliminary autopsy results revealed 'no significant contributory injuries' from the fight, with her known heart condition believed to have played a major role. The official cause and manner of death remain pending.

Grayson's daughter, Tawnda Grayson, has hit out angrily at the employees, claiming her mother was 'attacked' and 'scared to death'.'You should not enter a coffee shop for a coffee and a doughnut and come out unalived,' she said in an emotional statement. 'That is diabolical. That’s the elderly lady. That’s not how we treat our senior citizens. We be careful with them. We make sure that they’re all right. We don’t jump on them and attack them.'

She added that her mother had congestive heart failure and had recently seen a new heart doctor.

Police have stressed that Grayson initiated physical contact by shoving and striking first after being asked to leave. No arrests have been made, and the case has been forwarded to prosecutors.

The incident has sparked furious debate online, with many slamming the grandmother for 'choosing violence' over a minor order mix-up.
