Burger King, one of the last holdouts among fast-food giants, has finally coughed up its full ingredients lists, and what’s inside is enough to make you lose your appetite for good.
A shocking new video breaking down the chain’s “food” reveals the iconic Whopper contains a staggering 85 ingredients, while the Royal Chicken Spicy Sandwich is loaded with an eye-popping 120 different chemicals, additives and mystery goop.
“This is not food. It’s a chemical science experiment engineered to be as addictive as possible,” the viral clip declares.
The Whopper’s lengthy laundry list includes multiple seed oils, processed sugars, preservatives, and in the bun alone, potassium iodate, a dough conditioner banned in Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand over health concerns. Also lurking: mono- and diglycerides, which have been linked to gut inflammation.
Don’t even get started on the Royal Chicken Spicy Sandwich. That monstrosity features a processed chicken patty coated in flour, starches and battered before being fried in rancid oxidized seed oils. It’s slathered with three different sauces, one with more than 25 ingredients on its own, plus dough conditioners that can wreck your gut and silicon dioxide, whose nanoparticles may spark inflammation.
And yes, the fries? They contain dimethylpolysiloxane — the exact same antifoaming agent used in Silly Putty.
The video, which has racked up massive views, shows the man scrolling through official-looking Burger King ingredient pages, zooming in on the endless lists that read more like a chemistry textbook than a lunch menu.“Burger King might just be the worst fast-food restaurant I’ve ever seen,” he says, holding up the greasy sandwiches on a tray.
Fast-food watchers have been hounding Burger King for years to disclose what’s really in their grub. The chain quietly posted the details earlier this year after activists applied pressure, and the results are worse than anyone imagined.
Health experts have long warned about ultra-processed foods packed with additives designed to hijack your taste buds and keep you coming back for more. Studies have tied heavy consumption of seed oils and emulsifiers to inflammation, obesity and gut issues. No sandwich should ever clock in at 85 to 120 ingredients. Period.
Burger King did not immediately respond to a request for comment — but customers online are already freaking out.
One thing’s for sure: Next time you’re craving a Whopper, you might want to think twice about what you’re actually eating. This isn’t a burger. It’s a science project with a side of fries.
