Influencer’s iPhone Snatched Through Smashed Car Window In Seconds, Then Thieves Drain Her Bank Account With No Password Or Face ID

A Brazilian influencer was sitting in São Paulo traffic Friday when a thief smashed her window, snatched her iPhone in a flash, and then emptied her bank account without ever knowing her password or using Face ID.

Tábata Lenk was stuck on Avenida Tancredo Neves when it happened. Her dashcam caught the whole nightmare: glass exploding inward, the phone gone, and Lenk gripping the wheel in shock.

The footage shows her covering her mouth, shaking, barely able to drive. She later pulls over, legs giving out, and breaks down crying.“I was shaking so much I could barely drive,” she said. “My legs went weak. I leaned on the car and just started sobbing. I was trying to remember to breathe.”

The phone was locked. The banking app needed extra security. It didn’t matter. Money still moved out of her Nubank account. She filed a police report, locked the device and disputed the transfer.

This is no one-off. In Brazil, they call it “quebra-vidro”, window-smash crews who hit drivers trapped at lights because they know you can’t chase them. Phones get grabbed and the cash follows fast.

The country sees close to a million phone thefts a year. Busy São Paulo roads rack up hundreds of cases in months. Cops have busted some of the gangs and frozen money. The videos keep coming anyway.

Lenk’s clip is already making the rounds. Drivers are talking about window film and keeping phones out of sight. One routine commute turned into a smashed window, a missing iPhone, and a drained account, all in the time it takes to sit through a red light.
