Indianapolis Cop Threatens To Kill A Teen Because He Smelled Weed Inside The Car
34 days ago
An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer is under investigation after dash camera footage contradicted his claim that a 17-year-old reached for a gun during a traffic stop—an assertion the officer used to justify telling the teen he would take his life.
According to officials, the incident began when the officer stopped a vehicle and told the teenager inside that he smelled marijuana. During the encounter, the officer allegedly threatened the teen, stating he would kill him. The officer later claimed the statement was made because the teenager reached for a firearm, presenting an immediate threat.
However, dash camera video reviewed as part of the investigation appears to directly conflict with that account. The footage reportedly shows the teen did not reach for a gun at any point during the stop, raising serious questions about the officer’s version of events and the justification for the threat.
The video has prompted an internal review by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the incident is now being formally investigated. Authorities have not disclosed whether the officer has been placed on administrative leave or if disciplinary action is pending.
