New questions are swirling around the death of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein after reports revealed that one of the prison guards on duty the night he died allegedly searched his name online just minutes before his body was discovered.
According to the New York Post, correctional officer Tova Noel conducted multiple Google searches about Epstein in the early hours of the morning he was found dead inside his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
The outlet reports that Noel searched “latest on Epstein in jail” at 5:42 a.m., before making the same search again at 5:52 a.m.
Less than 40 minutes later, at approximately 6:30 a.m., her colleague Michael Thomas reportedly discovered Epstein hanging in his cell.
The timing of the searches has fueled fresh speculation surrounding the circumstances of Epstein’s death, which occurred on August 10, 2019, while he was awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
But the report goes even further.
According to documents cited by the New York Post, JPMorgan Chase had flagged activity in Noel’s bank account in a “suspicious activity report” submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in November 2019.
Among the transactions that reportedly caught the bank’s attention was a $5,000 cash deposit made on July 30, 2019, just 10 days before Epstein’s death.
Noel had previously faced accusations of falsifying prison records related to the night Epstein died, though the charges against her were later dropped.
Epstein’s death inside the federal facility immediately sparked intense public scrutiny, particularly after it emerged that guards assigned to monitor him had allegedly failed to carry out required checks and that surveillance cameras near his cell were not functioning properly.
Officials ultimately ruled Epstein’s death a suicide by hanging, but the case has continued to fuel widespread debate and conspiracy theories due to the high-profile individuals linked to the financier and the numerous irregularities reported in the jail’s procedures that night.
The new revelations about the Google searches and the flagged cash deposit are likely to intensify those questions once again, as observers continue to scrutinize the timeline leading up to the convicted sex offender’s death behind bars.
