This Cockatoo Became So Committed To Hanging Out With Cats That It Literally Started Meowing Like One
22 days ago
Animals trying to fit in with completely different species will never stop being funny because they always commit way too hard to the bit.
Which brings us to this incredible viral clip of a white cockatoo that has apparently spent so much time around cats that it fully decided, “Yeah, I’m one of these now.”
The video shows the cockatoo casually walking around a group of cats while raising its giant crest and making noises that sound suspiciously close to actual meows and hisses. Not bird noises. Not chirping. This thing is out here attempting full feline communication like it’s trying to infiltrate cat society from the inside.
And honestly? The confidence is unbelievable.
The bird struts around the room with the exact energy of somebody who absolutely believes they belong there. Meanwhile the cats look mildly confused but mostly accepting, like they’ve already given up trying to explain species classification to this lunatic bird months ago.
The funniest part is the meowing.
Because it’s not even a casual accidental sound. The cockatoo is clearly making a deliberate effort to mimic the cats around it. You can practically see the bird’s brain working in real time:
“Okay, they hiss sometimes. They meow. I will now also meow. This is how friendship works.”
And weirdly enough, scientifically speaking, that’s kind of true.
Parrots and cockatoos are insanely good vocal mimics because of how their brains process sound and social interaction. They don’t just randomly repeat noises for no reason. A lot of the time they mimic sounds as a form of bonding or environmental adaptation. Basically, if a cockatoo spends enough time around cats, there’s a decent chance it starts thinking cat noises are just part of normal household communication.
