Food Blogger Horrifically Dies in Agony After Eating Deadly ‘Devil Crabs’ On Camera

A food blogger in the Philippines has died a horrifying death after eating highly poisonous “devil crabs” on camera, despite being an experienced fisherwoman.
Emma Amit filmed herself cooking and eating crabs and shellfish in coconut milk, later uploading the footage to social media for her followers.
But the seemingly harmless meal turned fatal.
The following day, Amit reportedly began suffering violent convulsions as powerful neurotoxins entered her bloodstream. She was rushed to hospital, where doctors fought to save her — but she later died.
The village chief in the coastal community where Amit lived said residents were left stunned by the tragedy, noting that both Amit and her husband were seasoned fishermen who should have been familiar with dangerous marine species.
Adding to the shock, brightly colored shells from poisonous crabs were later discovered in the couple’s trash.
The so called “devil crab” is considered one of the most dangerous crabs found in the Philippines. It contains a potent toxin similar to that found in fugu, the infamous pufferfish delicacy that can be lethal if prepared incorrectly.
Health officials warn that as many as half of all recorded devil crab poisoning cases end in death, even with medical treatment.
