BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — A furious husband went full demolition derby on his family home, ripping it apart with a massive excavator in a booze-fueled rage after his wife told him their marriage was finished, authorities said.
Eric Pierwsza, 48, allegedly climbed into a Kubota excavator and tore into the rear of his house Tuesday night, May 26, sending debris flying while terrified family members were still inside, according to shocking aerial footage and police reports.
Neighbors and first responders watched in horror as the machine clawed through walls and roofing in what investigators called a deliberate act of destruction following a night of heavy drinking."He just started tearing the house apart," one source close to the investigation told The Post.
The chaotic scene unfolded after Pierwsza's wife reportedly informed him the relationship was over, sparking the meltdown in the quiet Pennsylvania community.
Dramatic video from the scene shows the excavator parked amid piles of rubble, with large sections of the home's structure completely gutted. Structural engineers later flagged major safety risks, warning the property was on the verge of collapse.
First responders and law enforcement swarmed the address, taking Pierwsza into custody without further incident.
He now faces serious felony charges, including causing a catastrophe and reckless endangerment, prosecutors said. Additional counts could be filed as the investigation continues.
The incident has stunned the Butler County community, where such domestic destruction is virtually unheard of."This is extreme even for a bad breakup," one local told The Post. "The guy basically tried to bulldoze his whole life in one night."Piérwsza remains in custody as authorities assess the full extent of the damage and any potential charges related to endangering his family members who were inside during the rampage.
