LEEDS, UK — A vile child killer got a taste of prison justice inside one of Britain’s toughest jails — stabbed more than 25 times by three fellow lifers who then casually tucked his bleeding body into bed to make it look like he was just sleeping.

Kyle Bevan, 33, was serving a life sentence with a minimum of 28 years for the sickening 2020 murder of his partner’s two-year-old daughter, Lola James, when the brutal attack went down at high-security HMP Wakefield on November 4, 2025.

Mark Fellows, 45, Lee Newell, 57, and David Taylor, 64, all convicted killers themselves, followed Bevan into his cell on the prison’s A Wing. CCTV captured them cornering the child murderer before unleashing a frenzied assault with makeshift blades, including one fashioned from a metal part ripped off the back of a TV.

The savage attack lasted less than five minutes. When it was over, the trio emerged in what prosecutors described as “a satisfied, job-done mood.” They positioned Bevan’s body in bed, pulled up the covers, and left him to bleed out. He wasn’t discovered until the next morning.

Bevan had already been convicted of inflicting catastrophic injuries on little Lola — more than 100 external wounds in a brutal beating inside the family home in Haverfordwest, Wales. He didn’t call an ambulance. Instead, he recorded a disturbing video of the dying toddler as he tried to prop her up.

At Leeds Crown Court this week, Mrs Justice McGowan slammed the trio for targeting Bevan specifically because he was a child killer.“You chose him as your target as he had been convicted of the murder of a child,” the judge said. “There were congratulations when you returned to your own landing. Word had spread.”

She noted that Fellows tried to get rid of his bloodstained trousers, all three had blood on their shoes, and “all of you had killed before.”Fellows and Newell, already serving whole-life orders for previous murders, were handed new and separate whole-life orders for Bevan’s killing. Taylor, who was already facing serious charges, including the murder of his girlfriend, also received a whole-life order.

Shocking CCTV still from HMP Wakefield shows the three attackers (marked with arrows) moments before they stormed Bevan’s cell.HMP Wakefield, long nicknamed the “Monster Mansion” for housing some of Britain’s most notorious offenders, has seen its share of violence. This calculated execution inside a locked cell has sparked fresh debate about prison safety — and whether some inmates believe they’re above the law even behind bars.

The chilling footage released in court shows the three men plotting and moving through the prison before zeroing in on their target. They showed zero remorse in the dock.

Bevan’s original crime shocked the nation. Lola James suffered 101 injuries at the hands of the man who was supposed to protect her. Her mother, Sinead James, was also convicted in connection with the toddler’s death.

Now the man who murdered that little girl has paid the ultimate price inside the very system meant to punish him, delivered not by the courts, but by fellow prisoners who decided he crossed an unforgivable line.
