Some Airbnbs give you a bed and maybe a decent view. This one apparently gives you a secret tunnel that leads to an arcade.
A viral video tour of a rental in Arizona is blowing up online after a guest discovered that a small door under the staircase actually opens into a crawl tunnel that spits you out into a full-on game room like something out of a kid’s dream house.
The highlight of the whole thing is the entrance to that hidden crawl tunnel under the stairs. You lift up a small door, crawl through the passage like you’re in some childhood fort, and suddenly you pop out into a full-blown arcade room.
Not kidding.
The room is packed with arcade machines, air hockey tables, pinball games, neon lights, the whole deal. It’s basically the kind of game room every kid dreamed about having growing up, except it’s tucked inside an Airbnb like a secret level in a video game.
And that’s only the inside.
Then the video walks outside and the backyard looks like someone built a mini water park behind the house. Huge pool, water slide, diving board, and even a rock jump area where you can launch yourself into the water like you’re on a resort vacation.
At that point you realize this place wasn’t built for quiet couples retreats. This thing was designed specifically for big groups, bachelor trips, and families trying to keep kids entertained for an entire weekend without leaving the property.
Which leads to the obvious question everyone in the comments is asking.
How much money does this thing make?
Luxury Airbnbs with big pools and entertainment setups in Arizona can go for somewhere around $600 to $1,000 per night depending on the season. If a place like this stays booked about 60 percent of the year, you’re probably looking at something like $130,000 to $220,000 in revenue annually.
Now before everyone starts Googling “how to build secret tunnels in my house,” there’s a catch. These places are expensive to maintain. Heated pools, water slides, arcade machines, cleaning crews, repairs, the whole operation adds up quickly.
Industry estimates say owners can lose 30 to 50 percent of that revenue just keeping everything running.
Still… even after expenses, the person who built this place probably isn’t hurting.
Honestly, the real question isn’t how much the place makes.
The real question is how many grown adults have booked this thing purely so they can crawl through that tunnel like a bunch of eight-year-olds discovering Narnia.
