Apparently Thieves In Colombia Are Now Using 'Knee Tickling' To Rob People And Somehow That’s A Real Thing
30 days ago
Every time it seems like criminals have run out of strange robbery techniques, the internet produces another sentence nobody expected to read:
“Watch out for the knee ticklers.”
A viral security video out of Medellín is blowing people’s minds after allegedly showing a group of thieves using a bizarre distraction tactic called “cosquilleo” — basically grabbing or lightly tickling a victim near the knee to create confusion while the rest of the group steals valuables.
And somehow… it apparently works.
The footage from April 9, 2026 shows a pedestrian walking down the street before several suspects suddenly swarm him at once. One individual appears to grab the victim near the knee area while the others immediately move in and begin taking bags, documents, and personal belongings.
The victim visibly freezes for a moment trying to process what’s happening while the group rapidly empties his pockets and grabs his belongings.
You can practically see the exact second his brain short-circuits trying to understand why a stranger just touched his knee in the middle of the sidewalk.
By the time he realizes he’s being robbed, the thieves are already moving away.
According to reports, the “cosquilleo” tactic has reportedly been used in parts of Bogotá and Medellín for years as a distraction method. The strategy is simple: create a sudden, unexpected sensation, confuse the victim for a split second, and let the rest of the crew steal everything before the person fully reacts.
Social media reactions were a mix of disbelief and amusement, mostly because viewers could not believe organized robbery crews are apparently using knee tickling as part of coordinated theft operations.
Others pointed out the larger lesson from the footage: distraction thefts work because humans naturally panic or lose focus when something bizarre and unexpected suddenly happens.
One guy gets his knee touched for half a second and suddenly an entire robbery operation unfolds around him like a real-life prank video gone wrong.
