Wild viral footage has left the internet in shock after a corpse dramatically tumbled out of its sky-blue casket, right in front of grieving family members during a funeral procession in Guyana.
Pallbearers had just hauled the coffin out of a black hearse and taken only a few shaky steps along a grassy roadside bank when disaster struck. The bottom of the cheap-looking casket gave way, sending the body crashing onto the dirt and grass near some rickety wooden planks.
Mourners erupted in screams of horror as suited pallbearers scrambled in chaos, desperately trying to lift the deceased back into the broken box without crushing it further. One man could be seen frantically directing traffic around the grim scene while others hoisted the splintered casket.
“In all my 50-plus years in Guyana, I have never seen a dry-rot casket,” one stunned local commented on social media. “No matter how cheap the coffin is, it never falls apart.”
Others weren’t so kind, piling on with savage jabs: “Temu casket?” “Should’ve bought the Costco one,” and “Did they use the wood from that little bridge to make the coffin?” Some even joked the deceased “didn’t want to go” to their final resting place.
The bungled burial service unfolded in broad daylight under palm trees, with cars and a blue scooter visible in the background as the pallbearers, some in suits, others in casual attire, struggled to regain control.
