Georgia Teen Arrested After Scamming Her Ex Into Paying Child Support For A Baby That Wasn't His...The Baby Wasn't Hers Either Apparently

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — An 18-year-old Coweta County woman is facing criminal charges after authorities say she pulled off a child support con that ended with thousands of dollars in alleged payments from an unsuspecting ex-boyfriend. The kicker? Investigators discovered the baby in question wasn’t hers — and it wasn’t his either.
Brya Hardy, according to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, allegedly approached her former boyfriend last December, claiming he was the father of her newborn and demanding support. The man reportedly paid $7,000 before suspicions prompted him to contact authorities.
Sheriff’s deputies charged Hardy with theft by deception, noting that the case serves as a warning to the public about potential scams. “We want people to know about this in case there are other victims,” a spokesperson said.
For Hardy, it was not the start to the New Year she might have hoped for. Instead, her alleged scheme has turned into a criminal investigation that could carry serious legal consequences.
The bizarre twist — claiming child support for a child unrelated to both parties — has left the Coweta County community shaking their heads. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to come forward, just in case Hardy’s alleged creativity had any more victims.
This case is a stark reminder that sometimes, lies can cost more than you think — and apparently, inventing a baby isn’t a free ride.
