Hantavirus MADNESS! Cruise Ships Are Apparently Deploying “No Washy Washy, No Yummy Yummy” Squads To Shame Adults Into Washing Their Hands
31 days ago
Cruise ships have officially entered their most absurd era yet, because viral footage now shows passengers being greeted by singing sanitation squads chanting “NO WASHY WASHY, NO YUMMY YUMMY” before they’re allowed anywhere near the buffet.
The video blowing up online shows cruise staff members stationed outside dining areas singing, clapping, and aggressively encouraging guests to wash their hands before entering to eat, all while dressed as giant food items, including tacos, strawberries, lettuce, and eggs.
The bizarre hygiene routine comes as cruise operators continue trying to avoid outbreaks of highly contagious illnesses onboard ships, with renewed public anxiety online surrounding viruses and recent discussions involving Hantavirus and other infectious diseases spreading in crowded environments.
In the clip, passengers approaching the dining hall are immediately pulled into the performance as workers repeat the chant nonstop while pointing people toward handwashing stations.
Some guests laugh and play along. Others look like they accidentally wandered into a children’s TV show run by public health officials.
It feels less like entering a buffet and more like crossing a border checkpoint operated by Broadway performers.
And while the whole thing looks ridiculous, cruise lines have good reason to obsess over hygiene. Cruise ships are notorious for rapid virus spread due to the close quarters, shared surfaces, packed dining halls, and thousands of passengers constantly touching the same railings, utensils, and serving stations.
