BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A heartless Amazon delivery driver was busted on Ring camera brazenly petting and then swiping a family's friendly tabby cat from their front doorstep — before casually strolling off with the furry feline like it was his own package.
The shocking video shows the uniformed driver dropping off a box at Brenda Wilson's West Bakersfield home on May 14, only to pause and get chummy with the trusting cat, Junie. Moments later, he scoops her up and heads back to his van as the poor kitty meows in protest.
Wilson, whose family has had Junie since 2022, told local reporters she was in "utter disbelief that anybody would have the nerve to do that." The mom said she's "just shocked" anyone could steal a pet so openly.
The family suspects the driver — possibly a former neighbor who lived nearby earlier this year — mistook the female tabby for his own male cat. But that hasn't eased the heartbreak for Wilson and her kids.
Kern County Sheriff's Office has launched an investigation into the brazen theft. No arrests have been made so far, but deputies are treating it as a straight-up cat-napping.
Amazon confirmed the driver works for a third-party contractor, not the company directly, and said it's cooperating with cops while speaking to the worker and his employer.
In a plea straight from the heart, the devastated owners say they won't press charges if Junie is returned safe and sound. "Just bring her home," they're begging anyone who knows anything.
This isn't the first time an Amazon driver has been accused of going full cat burglar. Similar horror stories have popped up across the U.S. and even the UK, sparking outrage online with furious pet lovers demanding answers from the retail giant.
Wilson has filed a police report and the family is still desperately searching for their gray tabby, who usually wears a collar.
