Wild Dispute Over A Parking Spot In Pittsburgh Leaves A Car Completely Buried In Snow With Police Left To Figure It All Out

PITTSBURGH — A bitter winter parking dispute in Pittsburgh escalated after a resident buried her neighbor’s car in snow following days of frustration over a cleared street parking space.
After spending hours digging out her son’s vehicle during a recent snowstorm, Tikisha Johnson said she repeatedly watched the freshly cleared spot get taken by another driver. The situation boiled over when she decided to retaliate by covering the vehicle with snow.
“We dug for two hours straight, and every day the spot was gone,” Johnson told Channel 11.
Johnson documented the incident on Facebook, where videos of the snow-covered car quickly went viral, drawing hundreds of thousands of views and sparking heated debate in the comments.
The owner of the buried vehicle, Cydney Cooper, said she had parked in the space before without conflict and was forced to park on the street because her apartment complex’s lot had not yet been plowed.
“Obviously, I was angry,” Cooper said, explaining that no one had warned her about the parking dispute before the situation escalated.
After confronting Johnson, Cooper contacted Pittsburgh police, who responded to the scene and assisted in digging the vehicle out. No charges were filed.
Cooper said the situation could have been avoided entirely with a simple conversation.
“If she had just told me, I would have moved my car right away. There wouldn’t have been an issue,” she said.
Johnson, however, defended her actions and said the incident put an end to the parking problem.
“I feel like if this hadn’t happened, she would have kept taking my son’s spot,” Johnson said.
Cooper maintains the underlying issue was resolved only after she contacted her landlord, who eventually arranged for the parking lot to be cleared.
When asked whether she considered herself the hero of the situation, Johnson did not hesitate.
“Yep. The hero,” she said.
Cooper disagreed.
“It depends on what you think a hero is,” she said. “If that’s what she felt she had to do, God bless her.”
Johnson told Channel 11 she might take the same action again under similar circumstances.
