A late-night fast-food run in Texas spiraled into full-blown mayhem when a Whataburger manager allegedly went medieval on a drunken customer — using a trash can and a wire fry basket — after the man returned to make good on a violent promise.
Anthony William Newhuis, 41, was arrested after the shocking brawl, which unfolded in front of stunned diners and staff.
According to local reports, Newhuis had been drinking heavily when he was first ordered out of the restaurant. But rather than slinking away, the intoxicated customer allegedly issued a chilling warning: he’d be back to assault the manager after police left.
And, witnesses say, he wasn’t bluffing.
Newhuis later returned to the restaurant, where tensions immediately exploded. Witness Billy Jones told reporters that an employee struck Newhuis in the head with a wire fry basket, sending him crashing to the floor.
What followed was straight out of a bar-room brawl — only with fast-food equipment.
Jones claimed the fallen man was then beaten with a trash can, as staff moved to stop the alleged attack before it could escalate further.
Bruised and battered, Newhuis fled the scene, only to be found moments later lurking behind the restaurant in the parking lot, police said.
Officers arrested him at the scene, charging Newhuis with assault causing bodily injury, public intoxication, and criminal mischief.
No employees were reported seriously injured in the fracas, though the incident has left locals shaking their heads over just how wild a simple burger run can turn, especially deep in the heart of Texas.
