There are bad days on the job, and then there’s whatever happened to this cop in Cincinnati.
A now viral video shows a police officer attempting to detain a man on a bicycle, only for the situation to turn into what can best be described as a real-life game of tag, except one guy has a badge and the other guy has significantly better balance.
The clip starts with the officer trying to wrestle the bicyclist to the ground, which, to be fair, sounds like a solid plan until it immediately unravels. The suspect shoves the officer down, both men stumble, and somehow the guy on the bike still looks like the more coordinated one in the situation.
From there, things quickly spiral into a clumsy back and forth.
The officer appears to reach for pepper spray, but instead of a clean takedown, it turns into a slow-motion chase featuring awkward footwork, missed grabs, and the kind of energy you usually only see in pickup basketball games at the YMCA.
At one point, the suspect hops back on his bike and, against all odds, actually manages to ride away, leaving the officer behind and the internet absolutely ruthless.
What led up to the confrontation remains unclear, which has not stopped social media from doing what it does best, turning the entire thing into a full-blown fitness evaluation.
Reactions online have been brutal.
Commenters flooded the video with takes ranging from calls for mandatory fitness tests to suggestions that the officer be reassigned somewhere far away from anything that requires sprinting, tackling, or, frankly, standing up quickly.
Others joked that the suspect didn’t escape so much as simply out-cardio the situation.
Still, behind the humor is a more serious conversation about training standards and preparedness, especially in moments where physical control can make the difference between control and a complete breakdown.
But for now, the internet has already reached its verdict, if you are going to chase someone on a bike, you might want to win the footrace first.
