Two workers trying to save a trapped wild boar got more than they bargained for when the furious animal charged their dinghy, climbed aboard and completely overturned the boat, hurling them into the water in a spectacular splash.
Dramatic footage circulating online shows the pair in a small boat on what is clearly a large inland reservoir, complete with sloping concrete or plastic-lined banks, surrounding grassy fields and trees, as several large dark shapes identified as wild boars swim nearby. What was meant to be a simple rescue quickly descended into pure chaos.
The men, approaching one of the animals stuck in the enclosed water body, suddenly find themselves under attack. The boar powers through the water, rams the side of the fragile craft, hauls itself up and with a violent heave flips the boat over, sending both men tumbling into the murky depths amid frantic splashing.
Onlookers filming from the bank can be heard reacting in shock as the boat is left floating upside down and the men struggle in the water while the animals continue swimming around them.
Wild boars are powerful swimmers and known for their aggressive temperament when cornered or stressed. Experts note that these animals, which can weigh well over 100kg, are increasingly common in many parts of Europe and frequently get into scrapes with humans when seeking water during hot weather or when trapped in man-made structures like reservoirs.
